What Season 1 of The Odyssey
Odysseus rules Ithaca with his wife, Penelope, and has just become a father to Telemachus when Agamemnon calls him to fight in Troy. She opposes his departure, but he must go. Fearing he may not return, he asks her that, if the boy reaches adulthood and he still hasn't come back, she should remarry, so that Ithaca will have a ruler to teach the heir his duties. Created by Andrei Konchalovsky for NBC, the miniseries follows this monarch torn between duty and family. Armand Assante leads the cast in a story set in ancient Greece and the Mediterranean.
