What Season 1 of Terra Nova

In 2149, humanity is on the brink of extinction due to overpopulation and poor air quality. When scientists discover a crack in the space-time continuum, they decide to send a capsule to determine when and where whatever passes through the crack will appear, but for some reason the capsule never reaches the present. Getting no response from the capsule, they conclude that the crack leads to a parallel timeline (an alternate past), so sending objects, and even people, through it would not change the future. And so, after other experiments made it possible to communicate with the past, they decide to send groups of humans back to the Cretaceous period, eighty-five million years ago, to preserve the species, since the world is dying. In the middle of the Cretaceous jungle, the immigrants found the city of Terra Nova. But soon, their mission to save humanity becomes much more complicated. They must not only coexist with dinosaurs, but also with a group of humans who rebelled against the rest of the immigrant community and live on their own in the forest, occasionally raiding the city to steal supplies. The series follows a family that travels to the past to start a new life in Terra Nova.
