Bensu Soral wasn't looking for fame. She was studying Graphic Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Marmara University, and her future was set among canvases and editing software. But the shadow of her sister Hande, already established in Turkish television, was too long to ignore.
Sometimes talent is a matter of someone else's persistence.
In 2012, she agreed to take part in Yol Ayrımı. It was a rough landing in an industry that is unforgiving toward a lack of stage experience, but Soral made up for her inexperience with a physical presence that disarmed casting directors. She didn't need years of extra work for producers to add her name to their list of priorities.
Three years later came Tatlı Küçük Yalancılar. That adaptation of the American series was the perfect testing ground for her leadership on screen. The series lasted 13 episodes and helped young audiences embrace it as a style and generational benchmark.
If there is one year that defines her career, it is 2016. Soral accepted the role of Melek in İçerde, a crime drama that gripped Turkey and was successfully exported to dozens of countries. Sharing scenes with Çagatay Ulusoy was no easy task, but she made her character the emotional core of a plot dominated by violence and testosterone.
And the gamble paid off.
Over the series' 39 episodes, her fee skyrocketed. But instead of taking on one shoot after another, Soral chose to slow down and pick her next steps carefully. She didn't want to become just another face in the endless stream of afternoon soap operas, so she preferred to wait for film to knock on her door with a project of real weight.
In 2019, she made the leap to the big screen with Organize İşler 2: Sazan Sarmalı. The film earned millions at the Turkish box office and placed her in a different register, far from weepy melodrama. It confirmed that her name could carry a big-budget production without needing television crutches.
After a period of less public exposure, she returned to television in 2021 with Cam Tavanlar. The project explored glass ceilings in the corporate world (a topic rarely seen in mainstream Ottoman-style fiction). Although the audience didn't respond as hoped, critics praised her ability to carry a drier, more professional tone.
In 2022, she joined the cast of Tuzak as Çiçek. It was a return to the thriller, the genre where she moves best, sharing the spotlight with Akın Akınözü. Filming dragged on until 2023 and cemented her position among the best-paid actresses of her generation.
Acting still coexists with her original artistic side.
In 2024, the actress underwent surgery after a heart arrhythmia was detected during a routine checkup. The operation was brief and left no lasting effect on her professional schedule. Soral keeps her residence in Istanbul with her husband, businessman Hakan Baş, whom she married in September 2018.
