Brittney Wilson was born in Chilliwack in 1991 and barely had time to be an ordinary kid. Her first professional contract came at age six, when most children are still learning to tie their shoelaces.
It wasn't her parents' whim. She herself asked to attend auditions in Vancouver because she was fascinated by the chaos of the spotlights and the work pace on film sets.
In 1998, she landed the role of Nan in the series Little Men.
It was her first major school.
She shot twenty-four episodes before turning ten. But the Canadian industry is small, and Wilson soon understood she needed to diversify her profile so she wouldn't disappear from the map once she grew a few inches.
In 2005, she began lending her voice to major animated projects. Titles such as Johnny Test and the Barbie movies gave her a financial stability that many live-action actors envy.
Because voice acting requires no makeup or endless waits on the set. It only demands flawless vocal technique and the ability to perform without using your body.
Wilson specialized in emotionally powerful supporting roles. In 2013, she joined the cast of Bates Motel to play Jodeen. It was a necessary step so casting directors would stop seeing her as a cartoon star.
And the gamble paid off.
She appeared in The L Word and Life Unexpected, proving she could hold her own in the most raw television drama. But her true ambition wasn't limited to being in front of the camera (something that became clear when she started getting involved in script decisions).
Wilson shifted her interest to what happens behind the monitors in 2016. She began studying the financing and distribution processes for independent content in Canada so she wouldn't depend on her agent's calls.
She doesn't believe in the miracles of a single hit.
In 2021, she appeared in the series Riverdale as Officer Dash. She was no longer chasing the sole spotlight of the promotional posters, but roles with depth that would let her finance her own scripts through her production company.
She prefers the endurance model of character actors who work steadily for decades. So she alternates appearances in major network series with developing small projects where she makes all the creative decisions.
In 2023, she appeared in several episodes of the series The Good Doctor, playing an oncology nurse. The shoot took place entirely at the Surrey studios under strict production cost-saving protocols.
