Charlie Creed-Miles doesn't have the look of a Hollywood star designed in an office. His physicality belongs to the purest, grittiest British realism. In 1993 he made his big-screen debut with The Punk, and from that moment on it was clear that his place was in the mud of acting.
He has no interest in unnecessary spotlight.
In 1997, Gary Oldman cast him in Nil by Mouth. It was a harsh shoot in which Creed-Miles had to deal with an atmosphere heavy with violence and despair. But that rawness was exactly what put him on the radar of casting directors looking for more than a pretty smile.
And the bet on raw honesty paid off.
That same year he appeared in The Fifth Element with Luc Besson. Many viewers forget this because his role was minor compared to the visual spectacle of Bruce Willis. Although science fiction gave him visibility in international markets, the actor chose to return quickly to the islands to shoot smaller projects.
Because Charlie moves best at close range.
In 2000 he took part in Essex Boys alongside Sean Bean. The film explored the British criminal underworld, and Creed-Miles fit perfectly into that world of tough guys and broken loyalties. He didn't need grand gestures to convey a constant sense of threat on screen.
Television gave his career a new life starting in 2013 with his role as Billy Kimber in Peaky Blinders. He was the show's first major antagonist, and his performance as a unhinged betting boss left a deep impression on audiences. As a result, his name began to be heard again in the offices of the major streaming platforms.
By 2011, he had already shown his ability to carry a story in Wild Bill. Directed by Dexter Fletcher, he played a father who gets out of prison and tries to win back his children in a hostile environment. The film's budget was only 700,000 pounds sterling.
During 2019 he joined the cast of Giri/Haji, a production that blended London and Tokyo with a daring narrative. In 2024 he worked again with Guy Ritchie on the series The Gentlemen, bringing the character JP to life. Filming for the latter wrapped up after several months of intense work on locations across southern England's counties.
