Donny Boaz didn't start by rehearsing monologues in front of a mirror at a prestigious drama school. Their entry into the entertainment industry came through international fashion, working for brands like Calvin Klein and Abercrombie & Fitch. That stage forced them to travel around the world and understand the language of the camera long before landing their first professional script.
In 2003 he landed his first real opportunity in front of the cameras in a television production. It was a small role, but it helped confirm that his athlete's Texan build fit the standards of American fiction at the start of the century.
And the gamble paid off.
For nearly a decade, Boaz built a solid foundation in independent film and episodic roles. In 2013, they took part in the revival of the iconic series Dallas, a project that let them work in their home state and start gaining traction with casting networks on the West Coast. They weren't chasing instant fame but steady work in a market crowded with similar profiles.
His arrival on The Young and the Restless in 2019 marked a paradigm shift in his work methodology. Playing Chance Chancellor required him to memorize up to fifty pages of dialogue a day, a level of technical demand that often burns out performers with less experience. Boaz held up for more than a hundred episodes and became a familiar face in American homes.
But his stability in daytime television came to an abrupt end in 2021 when the production company decided not to renew his contract. Instead of seeking refuge in similar formats, the actor decided to return to genre films and streaming series with more dramatically intense characters.
In 2022, they appeared in P-Valley, the Starz series where they played Corbin Kyle. This role let them move away from the polished image of daytime soaps and explore a far rawer, visually intense world.
There was no turning back.
Boaz is often cast in roles of authority, military figures or tough guys with a broken emotional background. In 2023 he released 12 Desperate Hours and The Dirty South, two projects that confirm his interest in stories set in the heartland of America. These shoots were marked by very tight production schedules and great physical demands on location.
In 2024 he took part in the feature film Bloodline Killer alongside actors such as Tyrese Gibson. The film was conceived as a classic suspense thriller and allowed Boaz to perform real action scenes without constantly relying on stunt doubles. His previous athletic training remains one of his best tools on set.
The year 2025 marks their appearance in The Senior, a sports drama directed by Rod Lurie in which they share the billing with Michael Chiklis. The film centers on college football and was shot entirely on location in Texas over several winter months.
The film's production had a budget of twelve million dollars, and its international distribution was handled independently before it reached commercial theaters.
