Efrat Dor

From Beersheba to New York Sets

Efrat Dor was born in 1983 under the sun of Beersheba. Her family was surrounded by books and paintbrushes (her mother is a writer and her grandmother was Polish), so the path to acting seemed set from the start. She studied at the prestigious Beit Zvi school in Israel and later decided to try her luck at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.

In 2010, she landed the role of Shir in the series Asfur. The show was a social phenomenon in her country and gave her instant visibility among young audiences. But she didn't want to limit herself to the local market.

That was the beginning of it all.

During those years she appeared in projects such as Mermaids (Sirenot), where she played detective Talin Pawsner between 2014 and 2015. This performance earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Series from the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. That recognition was the decisive push to seek work in English-language productions.

2017's international breakthrough

In 2017, Dor played Magda Gross in the film The Zookeeper’s Wife. She worked alongside Jessica Chastain and Daniel Brühl in a historical drama set in Poland during World War II. Critics praised her ability to convey tension without relying on big speeches. She landed the part after an international casting process that sought faces with genuine European roots.

Hollywood took notice.

In 2019, she joined the cast of Sneaky Pete for Amazon Prime Video during its third season. She played Lizzie and shared scenes with Giovanni Ribisi in a storyline full of scams and family secrets. But global audiences would only discover her a year later, thanks to the superhero universe.

And the gamble paid off.

Villains and Border Dramas

Between 2020 and 2023, she played Eva McCulloch on the series The Flash. Her character (known as Mirror Monarch) was the main villain for much of the sixth and seventh seasons. She filmed a total of 19 episodes, facing long days of visual effects and complex technical costumes.

But her range didn't stay confined to science fiction. In 2022, she joined the series Mayans M.C. to bring Anna Linares to life. It was a shift toward a much rawer and more violent tone under the direction of Elgin James.

Dor follows a strictly vegan diet and is an active advocate for animal rights. In 2023, her role on the series Mayans M.C. ended after an arc of eleven episodes filmed in California. She has lived in Los Angeles since 2018.
