Escaping the family shadow

Eve Hewson was born in Dublin in 1991, under a media spotlight that would have derailed any aspiring artist without a solid backup plan. But she decided her career would be built on sets in New York, not in stadium arenas. In 2008, she made her film debut in The 27 Club after convincing her parents that acting was not a rich teenager's whim.

And she made it happen.

Steven Spielberg cast her in 2015 for Bridge of Spies. She played the daughter of Tom Hanks in a espionage drama where every gesture had to be precise. But commercial cinema dealt her a setback in 2018 with Robin Hood. The film was a financial flop that barely grossed 86 million dollars against a production budget of 100 million.

That taught her to choose better.

In 2021, she starred in Behind Her Eyes for Netflix. The role of Adele required a psychological duality that puzzled viewers with its technical coolness. It was a viewing hit that showed her face suited high-quality home formats. As a result, scripts began arriving at her London office more often.

The explosion on streaming platforms

In 2022, Bad Sisters arrived. In this Apple TV+ production, she played Becka Garvey and dove into a dark comedy shot in the damp landscapes of Ireland. The chemistry with the rest of the cast drove a story that worked thanks to its emotional rawness and a script that gave viewers no respite.

John Carney directed her in Flora and Son in 2023. For the film, she had to learn to play the guitar to bring to life a young mother seeking redemption. Critics praised her ability to sing without artifice in a gray urban setting. The film was sold to Apple for 20 million dollars after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

In 2024, she took part in the miniseries The Perfect Couple alongside Nicole Kidman. The shoot took place on the beaches of Massachusetts with a large-scale production structure and extreme security measures to prevent leaks.
