Jack Falahee was born in Ann Arbor in the spring of 1989. His training at the Tisch School of the Arts gave him a technique far removed from the improvisation of traditional method actors. In 2014, he landed the role that changed his career with an audition for ABC.
He played Connor Walsh in How to Get Away with Murder. That character broke the mold with his raw edge and for moving away from the flat portrayals of sexuality on U.S. broadcast television.
The series reached ten million viewers in its first few weeks on air. But its massive success did not dull his interest in smaller projects.
Commercial television consumed him over six seasons.
During the years he spent filming Shonda Rhimes's series, the actor balanced marathon workdays with forays into historical drama. In 2016, he appeared in Mercy Street, where he played Frank Stringfellow. That PBS production helped him move away from the modern law student image he projected in Los Angeles.
Falahee has always sought a creative outlet away from the Hollywood spotlight. In 2019, he formed the band Diplomacy with a childhood friend. The music project allowed him to explore a more personal side of his work, one less dependent on the casting processes of California.
But music offered a kind of control that other people's scripts didn't allow.
After his stint in big-budget television ended in 2020, the actor decided to be extremely selective about his projects. He took part in Fire Island in 2022, directed by Andrew Ahn. The film was a reimagining of Jane Austen that performed solidly on digital platforms.
In 2023, he starred in Hayseed, playing an insurance detective in a rural mystery plot. The shoot took place in Michigan, his home state, which meant a return to his geographic and family roots.
Falahee prefers intimate shoots to big visual-effects blockbusters. In 2024, he filmed The Night It Went South, a suspense thriller that moves away from the polished aesthetic of his ABC beginnings.
In 2024, the actor chose low-budget productions.
His commitment to social causes and low profile in the press define his professional routine. In 2025, he plans to take part in a theater project in New York, returning to the stage he first explored during his college years. The production has a budget of two million dollars.
