Kirk B.R. Woller isn't a name that graces the covers of trend magazines. He's a working actor who sees Hollywood as a workshop rather than a catwalk. His training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts allowed him to break into the industry in the late 1980s with a solid technique.
Persistence was his only bargaining chip.
In 1989, he landed a minor role on the series Santa Barbara. That was the start of a career built on physical presence and a gaze capable of conveying authority or menace without raising his voice. His face fit the mold of government agents and lawmen with dark secrets.
But Woller never just went through the motions. He studied every script looking for the crack where he could slip humanity into characters that, on paper, were mere narrative formalities. That dedication eventually caught the attention of the top casting directors in California.
From 2000 to 2001 he played Agent Gene Crane on The X-Files. It was a foundational stage in his career. That character gave him the visibility he needed for directors like Steven Spielberg to notice his controlled presence. In 2002 he appeared in Minority Report under the direction of the New York filmmaker.
The system pegged him fast.
Through the 2000s, his name appeared in the credits of some of the most powerful productions on American television. In 2004 he worked on Charmed, and in 2010 he joined the cast of Sons of Anarchy. Each appearance was a lesson in economical gesture that reinforced his reputation as one of the most reliable supporting actors in the business.
In 2007, he took on the role of Slater in Resident Evil: Extinction. It was a demanding shoot in desert locations that required considerable physical effort. But Woller preferred the intensity of the film sets to the glitter of premiere red carpets. For him, success has always meant having his next contract signed before finishing the current one.
In 2017 his career found a new focus with the role of Gaius in The Chosen. Playing a Roman centurion let him develop an extensive dramatic arc full of religious and moral nuance. The project became a global phenomenon funded entirely by its audience through donations.
And the gamble paid off.
Woller stayed committed to this production for years. In 2023 he juggled this work with his role in the feature film The Shift. In this science fiction film he shared the screen with Neal McDonough and Sean Astin. The movie earned 12 million dollars at the U.S. box office.
His home base remains in Los Angeles. In 2024 he finished filming the episodes for the fourth season of his series about the life of Jesus. Kirk B.R. Woller continues to be an active member of the actors' union, with more than one hundred official credits on his professional profile.
