In 2007 Kris Jenner didn't have a studio or a fictional script, but she had a home video recorded during a barbecue and a relentless read on audience appetite. She showed up at the offices of producer Ryan Seacrest to sell a format with no apparent narrative structure: the intimacy of her family. Traditional executives dismissed the project as mere afternoon filler.
Jenner immediately understood that reality TV was not an artistic goal but a direct-sales showcase with nonstop airtime.
And the gamble paid off perfectly.
Before negotiating million-dollar contracts with cable executives, she learned the trade on late-night shopping channels. During the 1990s, she managed motivational conferences and training videos for Bruce Jenner. In that field, she mastered tight production schedules, fast camera work and the psychological hook of the compulsive viewer.
When E! gave Keeping Up with the Kardashians the green light in 2007, Jenner insisted on being credited as an executive producer through Jenner Communications. She didn't take a standard acting salary. She secured in her contract a 10% commission on every business deal closed by her daughters, and protected that percentage in court through trademarks.
The heart of the business was in the editing room. Jenner contractually secured oversight rights over the final cut of every episode. She used divorces, fights and tabloid leaks as serialized dramatic arcs, managing scandals to sustain ratings every Sunday.
But the math didn't always work out. In 2013, she tried to make the leap in front of the cameras with her own morning show, Kris, which Fox tested for six weeks. The show drew a modest rating of 0.8 points among adults aged 25 to 54, and executives canceled the project without offering national distribution.
In September 2020, the family announced the end of Keeping Up with the Kardashians after twenty consecutive seasons on pay television. Linear viewing was plunging in the United States, and traditional advertising revenue no longer covered the clan's operating costs.
Nobody gives anything away in the offices of Los Angeles.
Just three months after the announcement, Jenner signed a multiyear deal with The Walt Disney Company to move the production house to Hulu and Disney+. The new product, titled The Kardashians and launched in April 2022, swapped home-video camera work for cinematic lenses, drone shots and high-end advertising-style lighting.
Under the Kardashian Jenner Productions company, the team cut out middlemen for product placement. Brands like Skims and Kylie Cosmetics dominated the opening minutes of each season, weaving the corporate catalog into the storyline itself without paying fees to third parties.
By 2025, she filed paperwork to operate through Kris Jenner Productions, a label designed to develop scripted projects outside the family brand. That structure allowed her to partner with Ryan Murphy to serve as executive producer on the legal drama All’s Fair.
In January 2026, Hulu acquired the streaming rights to all twenty complete seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians after closing the transfer with distributor Versant. The deal meant uploading 280 episodes of 42 minutes each, produced over fourteen years, to servers, guaranteeing a fixed residual percentage for every digital play.

Things you probably didn't know about Kris Jenner
We’ve built this amazing life for ourselves, and sometimes I feel like it can be a curse,” she said. “Sometimes, I feel like I’ve helped build something that can also be a burden. The haters, they’re so brutal sometimes. And I feel bad that I brought this element to our lives. It’s hard, it’s a struggle.”
“Now sometimes I just feel guilty about the other side of the coin, that we’ve created this life, not only a big responsibility, but it also can be very negative,” she added.
