Megyn Price

From the bank to the TV set

Megyn Price didn't start out rehearsing monologues in front of a mirror in a Seattle theater. Her first real stage was the floor of an investment banking office after she graduated with a degree in Economics from Stanford University. She worked with numbers and balance sheets before realizing her future was in fiction.

But the world of finance weighed too heavily on her. In 1996, she landed her first major role on the series Common Law. The show barely lasted a few months on air. Despite the initial setback, the industry took notice of her talent for fast-paced comedy.

And the gamble paid off.

In 2001, the project came along that made her face unforgettable to viewers. Price took on the role of Claudia Finnerty in Grounded for Life. Over the show's five seasons, she built a character as a young, straight-talking mother that moved away from the usual stereotypes of American television.

Seven Years of Television Marriage

In 2007, she joined the cast of the comedy Rules of Engagement, playing Audrey Bingham for seven full seasons. She earned an average of $50,000 per episode during the network's peak viewership years on CBS. The show held its ground with critics thanks to the chemistry between its leads.

The work pace was relentless.

Shooting a live-audience sitcom demands absolute technical precision. Price balanced this work with appearances in other productions. In 2012, she lent her voice to the animated series American Dad. She also appeared in TV movies such as A Christmas Melody in 2015, alongside Mariah Carey.

Control Behind the Camera

In 2016 she joined the Netflix series The Ranch, where she played Mary Roth in a much darker and more dramatic setting than her previous roles. During filming of this production in 2019, she stepped behind the camera for the first time to direct the episode titled Pass It On.

Directing changed her perspective on the craft.

In 2020 she wrapped up her run on the series after four successful seasons on the streaming platform. Price has always kept a low profile away from the set. She lives in California with her husband (an emergency room doctor) and their daughter Grace. In 2023 she appeared in an episode of the series Quantum Leap, playing the character Brenda.

The syndication deal for her main series still generates six-figure annual earnings.
