Siena Agudong did not come out of an elite performing arts school in New York. Her career started in the community theater of Hawaii when she was barely seven years old. In that rural setting, far from the major studios, she got her first stage experience before making the leap to the mainland.
In 2014, she landed her first professional role in the series Killer Women. It was a brief appearance, but it caught the eye of Los Angeles agents, who saw an actress with a natural comedic timing unusual for her age.
And the gamble paid off.
Between 2015 and 2018, she worked steadily on Nickelodeon productions such as Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. Formats like this demand military-level discipline because of the laws that protect minors' working hours. Agudong learned there to memorize scripts in record time and to work under the pressure of canned laughter.
In 2019, she starred in No Good Nick for Netflix. On this series, she had to share the set with Sean Astin and Melissa Joan Hart. The project was complex because it blended the structure of a traditional sitcom with a plot of scams and family drama that demanded constant shifts in tone.
The series ran for twenty episodes before it was canceled.
But that job opened the doors to big-budget action cinema. In 2021, she played the younger version of Mia Toretto in F9. Although her appearance was limited to flashback scenes, the shoot gave her an inside look at the logistics of a franchise that earned more than 700 million dollars at the global box office.
Her transition to more adult roles was not easy. In 2022, she took on the role of Billie Wesker in the Netflix adaptation of Resident Evil. The series was shot mainly in South Africa and featured high-level practical effects and makeup.
Critics were merciless toward the series' storytelling.
Despite backlash from fans of the original video game, Agudong's work was praised for her ability to convey the anguish of a character who undergoes a physical transformation. The shoot lasted eight months in changing weather conditions that tested her physical endurance.
In 2020, she also headlined Upside-Down Magic. This original Disney Channel film was shot in Vancouver and required heavy use of green screens and digital post-production. Agudong had to learn to act against nothing so the visual effects team could later add the magical elements.
And then came the return to her professional roots.
In 2024, she appeared in the film The Thundermans Return, reconnecting with young audiences. The shoot took place at studios in British Columbia and featured a crew of two hundred and fifty people. Principal photography wrapped in March that year on a budget in line with cable television standards.
