You're never alone.

An unemployed young writer roams the streets of London, following strangers. He does this to find inspiration for his first novel, and he sets rules about whom to follow and for how long. Those rules don't last long. Soon he fixes his eyes on a elegant, well-dressed man in a dark suit and can't take his eyes off him. The stranger eventually notices someone on his heels and confronts the young man directly. He introduces himself by name: Cobb. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Jeremy Theobald as the aspiring writer.

Trivia about Following

The protagonist's apartment was Theobald's real apartment, and the main house seen in the film was Nolan's parents' home.

Filming stretched over a year and was completed in fourteen weekends, according to sources, which allowed Nolan to pay for the negative and processing without going into debt.

Nolan financed the film with his own money and set aside half of his salary for the blank film stock and processing.

Several cast and crew members went on to work with Nolan on his later films, including composer David Julyan, producer Emma Thomas, and actors Jeremy Theobald, John Nolan, and Lucy Russell.

The name of the man the protagonist follows, Cobb, was reused by Nolan for the lead character in Inception, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The door to the protagonist's apartment has a Batman logo sticker, years before Nolan directed the trilogy featuring the character.

The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Dinard British Film Festival, the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Best Director award in Newport, and the Ilford Award for Best Black-and-White Film at Slamdance.

Peter Broderick discovered a rough cut and provided funding to finish it; the film then screened in San Francisco, Toronto, and at Slamdance, although Sundance rejected it.
