Inside Man

Simon Newton works at an auction house and is buried in gambling debts he doesn't know how to pay. To get out of trouble, he offers his services to a criminal gang led by Franck and agrees to help from the inside in the theft of a Goya painting the auction house is set to sell soon. Simon knows the building's routines and believes he has everything under control. The heist starts as planned, but during the job Simon takes a hard blow to the head. When he wakes up, he can't remember where he hid the painting, and Franck urgently needs answers. Danny Boyle directs the film, and James McAvoy stars as Simon alongside Vincent Cassel.

Trivia about Trance

Michael Fassbender was cast as Franck in May 2011 but left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Vincent Cassel ended up playing the role.

McAvoy nearly turned down the role because he saw Simon as a victim, which didn't interest him. According to him, the character evolved as he read the script.

Boyle originally planned to set the film in New York, but it was ultimately shot in London and Kent, because his Olympic commitments required him to stay in the United Kingdom.

Joe Ahearne's script was first turned into a British TV film in 2001. Boyle never forgot the project and, almost two decades later, proposed adapting it for the big screen.

The actors underwent hypnosis sessions as preparation; James McAvoy said one of them left him temporarily unable to move one hand.

The film grossed 24,261,569 dollars worldwide, of which 2,328,743 came from the United States and Canada.

The Chapel of Notre-Dame-du-Haut, designed by Le Corbusier in Ronchamp, France, is among the filming locations.

It won three awards and received three nominations, including an ALFS Award for James McAvoy and two Golden Trailer Awards for its trailer and poster.
