Gangs of New York

New York City, 1863. Before the city we know today, full of wealth, power and endless dreams, New York was a different place, an emerging city where the desire for a better life fueled anger among its people and bred violence in the streets. While the nation's survival was being fought over in the Civil War, a vast and dangerous criminal underworld was growing. But in the young, emerging city, the time had come to fight against the ruthless, against intolerance and fear. The moment had come for the extraordinary courage of those who pushed, at the edge of the fight, for the freedom of future generations.
