Agent 009, James Bond's partner, is murdered in East Berlin, but manages to reach the British ambassador's residence before dying, carrying a priceless piece of goldsmithing: a Fabergé Easter egg. In London, Secret Service specialists confirm that it is a forgery of the original jewel, which will soon be auctioned. The fact that similar pieces have been sold within a short period of time arouses the suspicion of Intelligence officials, who fear a Russian scheme aimed at raising funds for dark operations. On the trail of Kamal Khan, a shady art dealer, James Bond travels to India, where he discovers the connection between the suspect, a mysterious woman known as Octopussy, and General Orlov, all of them involved in a conspiracy aiming to unleash a nuclear conflict.
