Synopsis of 1992

Amparo, played by Marian Álvarez, loses her husband in a strange explosion and sets out to find out what really happened. She is helped by Richi, a security guard and former police officer with a drinking problem, played by Fernando Valdivielso. The story is set in Seville in 1992, during the World Expo the city is hosting that year. As they investigate, the murders repeat the same pattern: next to each burned victim is a figurine of Curro, the Expo's mascot. Netflix premieres this production by Álex de la Iglesia and Jorge Guerricaechevarría, a thriller that pits two people battered by life against a case tied to the city's major event.

Trivia about 1992

The production was filmed on location in Seville and Madrid, after Netflix announced the series in April 2023.

Actor Pablo Puyol plays Roberto Valcárcel in the 1992 version of the character, in episodes 2 and 3.

Pepo Oliva plays José Manuel Zamorano Núñez Sancristóbal, a celebrity who appears in episode 2 of the series.

Filming was especially fast-paced: Marian Álvarez described Álex de la Iglesia as a "machine gun of orders" and said working with him required total concentration.

The series was also filmed at a single-family home in Villanueva de la Cañada, where Carlos Santos, Marian Álvarez and Fernando Valdivielso crossed paths during filming.
