What Season 9 of Bonanza

The Cartwrights live on the Ponderosa, a huge ranch on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, near Virginia City, in the 1860s. Ben, the patriarch who has been widowed three times, leads his sons Adam, Hoss and Little Joe, and together they face the problems that arise in the area. The conflicts range from Indian attacks and kidnappings for ransom to murder trials. Joe and Candy end up locked up for a crime they didn't commit, while Hoss searches for the real culprit. The Cartwrights also face horse thieves, gangs plotting to raid the ranch, and greedy ranchers. Each episode forces them to make tough decisions, and Hoss, easygoing and loyal, is often the one who steps up for the others.

Hoss tries to remove the arrow, but the shaft breaks and it is imbedded in Joe's shoulder, leaving Joe gravely wounded. Hoss desperately searches for help and comes upon a wagon train with an odd assortment of people. There are two women, a thief, a dying doctor, and a coward on the wagon train.
