Synopsis of Lupin

Assane Diop, played by Omar Sy, is a skilled thief and master of disguise living in Paris. His father, Babakar, worked for the powerful businessman Hubert Pellegrini until he was accused of stealing a valuable diamond necklace he did not steal. Babakar died in prison. As a young man, Assane became hooked on the novels of Maurice Leblanc and decided to model himself on Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief from his reading. Now, with cunning, charisma and disguises, he plans to unravel the conspiracy that condemned his father and avenge him. The series, created by George Kay and François Uzan, streams on Netflix.

Trivia about Lupin

Following the series premiere, the first collection of stories about Arsène Lupin written by Maurice Leblanc topped the children's literature bestseller lists in France.

On January 31, 2021, the series had been watched by 76 million households, the second most successful premiere of a Netflix original series, behind Bridgerton.

The Nissim de Camondo Museum, on Monceau Street in Paris, serves as the Pellegrini family mansion and is open to the public.

Filming of the third part was temporarily halted after equipment worth 300,000 euros was stolen from the set, and it resumed three days later.

The 2025 Louvre heist renewed interest in the series, whose first episode was compared to the caper.

The music is by Mathieu Lamboley, who blends classical composition with hip hop rhythms.

Originally, Omar Sy was set to play Arsène Lupin himself, but George Kay proposed a new character, Assane Diop.

The fourth part of "Lupin" premiered on October 23, 2026 with eight episodes, the longest installment of the series up to that point.
