What Season 1 of Orange Is the New Black

Piper Chapman, a 33-year-old New Yorker, leads an orderly life until she is arrested for a crime committed almost a decade earlier: transporting drug money for Alex Vause, her former girlfriend. She is sentenced to fifteen months at Litchfield, a minimum-security federal women's prison in upstate New York. There, Piper runs into unwritten rules, rival factions and a routine she knows nothing about. Racial tensions run through daily life, and the kitchen becomes a place of pressure and favors. Among the inmates, Red, Pennsatucky and Pornstacho stand out, each with their own weight within the group. Piper tries to survive the confinement without losing sight of who she is.
