What Season 1 of Parks and Recreation
Leslie Knope is the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation Department in Pawnee, a fictional city in Indiana. She is an enthusiastic public servant who refuses to let politics dampen her optimism. It all starts with an abandoned construction pit next to the house of Ann Perkins, a nurse. Leslie demands that it be filled in after her boyfriend, Andy Dwyer, falls into it and breaks both legs. Leslie promises to turn it into a park, but Ron Swanson, the department director and an anti-government libertarian, resists the project. The season also shows the sexism of the local political environment and Leslie's work-life balance.
