What Season 1 of The Artful Dodger
In Australia in 1850, Jack Dawkins works as a respected young doctor in Port Victoria, after serving as a surgeon in the Royal Navy. His quiet life falls apart when Norbert Fagin, an old acquaintance, reappears and reminds him of his childhood in London, when he was known as the Artful Dodger and picked pockets. A gambling debt weighs on him and pushes him back into crime. Jack wants to leave that world behind, but he grows attached to Belle Fox, the governor's daughter, who aspires to become a surgeon.
