What Season 1 of The Dropout
The series begins when Elizabeth Holmes leaves Stanford with an ambitious idea: to found a company that will revolutionize blood testing. Amanda Seyfried plays the lead in this Hulu miniseries, created by Elizabeth Meriwether and based on the ABC News podcast The Dropout. It follows Theranos's rise in Silicon Valley, with investors and collaborators who buy into its promise. The episodes also flash back to Holmes's preteen years to explain what drove her toward ambition. The dramatic engine is the gap between what the company sells to the world and what goes on behind closed doors, a gap that squeezes everyone around her more and more. Sunny is her biggest support in this journey, and Tyler Schultz and Erika Cheung stumble onto a secret that changes how they see the company.
