The Discipline of the Bilkent Stage

Beril Pozam did not come to television by lucky break at an advertising casting. Her training at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Bilkent University shaped how she understands the craft. Before stepping in front of the spotlight, she worked as an assistant director and translator of dramatic texts.

Theater was her refuge.

In 2019, she landed her first role in the series Afili Aşk. She played Nazmiye Özkayalı with a restraint that caught the attention of Istanbul producers. It was not an easy path, however, as she had to juggle filming schedules with her technical work behind the scenes. Her learning curve was therefore doubled.

During 2021, her name appeared in three different credits. She took part in Olağan Şüpheliler for the Exxen platform and in the romantic comedy Ada Masalı. The Turkish industry began to see in her a technical ability above the average of her generation.

The Şanlı Sisters Phenomenon

In 2022, she joined the cast of Yalı Çapkını to play Suna Şanlı. The script required her to explore dark territory involving gender-based violence and family oppression in a luxurious setting. Pozam chose to build the character through restraint and tense silences.

And the gamble paid off.

The on-screen relationship with her fictional sister became the emotional engine of the production. In 2023, the series reached historic ratings in Turkey and was exported to more than forty countries. Pozam held her own alongside veteran actors thanks to a discipline she learned during her years of academic training.

Yet massive success did not pull her away from arthouse cinema. In 2023, she took part in the film Oh Belinda, a Netflix production in which she shared the cast with Neslihan Atagül. The project was a risk, as it was a remake of a classic Turkish film from the 1980s.

Critics praised her ability to hold her own in a satirical register.

Contracts and Realities Out of Focus

In August 2024, the actress married Ersin Arıcı, her co-star on the show. The wedding was a private event in a wooded area on the outskirts of Istanbul. The union caused a massive media stir, which Pozam handled with complete professional composure so as not to jeopardize the future of her characters.

Her career did not stop after her personal commitment. Pozam has remained tied to the OGM Pictures production company under exclusivity contracts that limit her appearances in non-specialized media. Her market value rose 40% after the second season of her main series.

Filming for the new episodes in 2024 included fourteen-hour days on locations along the Turkish coast. The crew praised her punctuality and her refusal to use stunt doubles in scenes with moderate physical tension. The contract for the production's third season was signed with a confidentiality clause that expires in 2026.
