Borja Luna is not a typical method actor, nor a product of commercial television. He trained at RESAD, and that technical foundation shapes every one of his movements in front of the camera. His time at the Royal Advanced School of Dramatic Art gave him a discipline that many of his generation peers envy.
The theater was her first home.
In 2012, he played Lope de Vega in the series Isabel. It was a complex challenge because he had to bring a literary genius to life without falling into historical caricature. The audience connected with his energy, and casting directors began to see in him something more than a photogenic face.
His run on Las chicas del cable in 2017 brought him massive international visibility. He played Miguel Pascual over several seasons and handled the pressure of a big-budget production with skill. That role allowed him to explore the moral ambiguity of a character caught between love and professional ambition.
But Luna always returns to the stage when his schedule allows. In 2016, he worked on Comedia sin título under the direction of Lluís Pasqual. That experience at the Teatro Español strengthened his reputation with Madrid critics, as he moved away from the comfortable roles of television.
Film has also knocked on his door with auteur projects. In 2018, he took part in Animales sin collar, the directorial debut of Jota Linares. He shared the screen with Natalia de Molina and showed that his physical presence can carry long, silent takes without the need for excessive dialogue.
It hasn't been a straight path.
During some periods of his career, the phone stopped ringing as often as usual. So he used those gaps to deepen his acting training and explore new stage languages. That patience eventually paid off when the Spanish industry began to seek more mature and less stereotyped profiles.
In 2023, he joined the cast of Cristo y Rey to play Humberto Cano. The Atresmedia production demanded a very specific tone to recreate Spain in the 1980s. Luna brought a restraint that was much needed in a story full of visual excess and complex melodramatic plots.
The premiere of Sin huellas in 2023 marked a shift toward dark comedy and suspense. In 2024, he shot the series Marbella, diving into the complex web of organized crime on the Costa del Sol. The series reached the top audience rankings on streaming platforms during its launch month thanks to its gritty realism.
Borja Luna keeps a low public profile and prefers to let his characters speak for him. He avoids unnecessary social events to focus on the rehearsal process. He understands that acting is a craft that demands silence and constant observation of reality.
Rigor is his only currency.
In 2025, his schedule includes work on audio fiction projects, a format that is gaining ground in the national industry. His contract with the production company for his next suspense feature film was signed under a strict confidentiality clause that prevents revealing script details until the start of post-production.
