Burak Sevinç didn't start in front of a television camera but with an instrument in hand. He was born in Istanbul in 1985, and his academic training at Yıldız Technical University focused on music and the performing arts. He plays the qanun, the violin, and the guitar with a technical precision he later brought to his acting.
He was a professional musician before he was an actor.
For years he was a member of the Enbe Orchestra. That discipline helped him understand the rhythm of scenes before he ever stepped onto a set for the first time. In 2011, he made his debut in the series Babam İçin in a small role that barely hinted at his future career in Turkey's audiovisual industry.
But the real breakthrough came when public broadcasters and private streaming platforms began looking for talent with deeper artistic training. So Sevinç drew on his musical background to build characters that move in front of the camera with a distinctive rhythm.
His massive recognition in Turkey and international markets came with Söz. Between 2017 and 2019, he played Fethi Kulaksız, a character that demanded rigorous physical training and a very specific kind of cool, understated acting. That role gave him the visibility he needed to lead casts without going through secondary auditions.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2019, he starred in Leke alongside Melis Sezen. The series didn't last long on air, but it showed the industry his ability to carry a complex romantic storyline. Sevinç prefers to work through restrained gestures rather than the overacting common in certain melodramas.
In 2020, he joined the cast of Kırmızı Oda to bring doctor Deniz to life. This production changed the way fiction is made in Istanbul by focusing on mental health and psychological therapy. He worked on more than forty episodes where dialogue and silence carried more weight than contrived plot twists.
He filmed Roza in 2023 under the direction of Mustafa Kotan. In this feature film, he played a character caught in a raw generational and cultural conflict. Critics praised his emotional control in a script that aimed for cheap reactions from viewers in every tense scene.
During 2023 and 2024, he appeared in the series Hudutsuz Sevda as Fikret Leto. It was a long-running project that built steady audiences on broadcast television. So even though he is drawn to auteur cinema, he keeps a firm foothold in mainstream productions to secure his share of screen time.
His musical training remains his refuge away from the spotlight.
Filming his scenes for Aşkın Yolculuğu: Hacı Bayram-ı Veli in 2022 required six months of post-production to fine-tune the ambient sound design and the integration of dialogue recorded in the studio. Sevinç personally supervised part of the sound mix for his scenes, thanks to his technical knowledge of audio engineering.
