Danielle C. Ryan started working at an age when most kids still can't tie their shoes.
By age five she was already in front of a camera in print ads, and soon after she moved into national television in the United States. She was born in California in 1993, but her career truly took shape across the open landscapes of Utah.
That landscape shaped her style.
In 2003, she landed the role of Thing One in the film adaptation of The Cat in the Hat alongside Mike Myers. It was a chaotic, big-budget production where Ryan learned the mechanics of commercial filmmaking before entering her teens.
But her true passion was on the ground.
She is an expert rider who has incorporated horsemanship into nearly all of her period and action projects. In 2005 she played Mary Ingalls in the miniseries Little House on the Prairie, proving she could carry the dramatic weight of a literary classic with ease.
Unlike many child actors, she maintained a steady professional track that helped her avoid the usual pitfalls of the transition to adulthood. She appeared in series such as Crossing Jordan and Without a Trace, while still training with horses in her free time.
Many actors of her generation disappeared once they turned eighteen.
Ryan turned to independent film and genre movies, where she could put her physical skills to work. In 2013 she starred in Survivor and SAGA: Curse of the Shadow. In the latter, she played a warrior elf and performed her own combat sequences without stunt doubles for the most complex parts.
Because she prefers mud and sweat to red carpets.
Her role in The Wild Stallion in 2009 already hinted at the connection to the equestrian world that she has maintained for decades. She's not an actress who waits in her trailer while stunt doubles do the dirty work.
Over time, the actress became interested in what happened behind the cameras and how the films she appeared in were financed. In 2022 she starred in Double Threat, an action film that allowed her to explore a darker and more physical range than usual.
Between 2023 and 2024, she focused on cable television projects and platforms that ensure immediate global distribution. She appeared in more than 60 productions before turning thirty-five, a volume of work that few A-list names can match.
In 2024 she premiered The Night Crawler, directed by J.L. Armitage. Filming for this suspense thriller was completed in just eighteen days on locations in Alabama.
