Erin Agostino didn't need much fanfare to break into the Canadian industry. Her first real encounter with a professional camera came in 1998 with the movie The 18th Angel. She was barely eleven years old when she realized the film set was a far more logical place than the schoolyard.
That first childhood experience was no fluke. Unlike other child actors who disappear after their first casting call, Agostino decided that acting would be her long-term career.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2010, she played Ava in the series 18 to Life. This project allowed her to work on more than twenty episodes and establish her name in Quebec productions before moving on to bigger-budget projects. There was no sudden explosion of fame, but a steady flow of contracts gave her the professional experience needed to survive in a market as competitive as North America's.
Television was her true home base.
Between 2016 and 2019, she played Nina Bloom in Murdoch Mysteries. She appeared in a total of 29 episodes and turned a supporting character into a more substantial role than the original scripts had planned. But the Canadian industry has its glass ceilings, and Agostino knew she had to diversify her on-screen presence.
She then began working systematically in the television romance genre. In 2020, she starred in A Christmas Masquerade, and in 2021 she headed the cast of Baby, It's Cold Inside. These productions demand absolute acting precision and the ability to shoot complex scenes in record time.
Many actors look down on these movies for their predictable structure. But Agostino understood that these shoots are the best school for mastering the technique of working under the light and keeping pace with fast-moving dialogue.
She didn't just wait for a casting director's call. During the shoot of The Love Club: Nicole's Pen Pal in 2023, the actress was already managing her own production timelines. Agostino belongs to a generation of performers who prefer to have control over the material that comes their way.
In 2024, she shot the movie A Christmas Less Traveled under director Heather Hawthorn Doyle. For this project, Agostino had to film on location in Vancouver during twelve-hour days in weather conditions that didn't always favor the script's aesthetic.
The result was one of the most-watched programs in its time slot on the Great American Family network.
Her profile on 2025 lists more than forty titles across film and television. Most of these productions were shot in Canada with private funding from production companies such as Hallmark or Lifetime. The longest contract of her career remains her deal with the Montreal representation agency that has managed her rights for more than a decade.
