Hala Finley started working before she could even talk, in commercials for toys and national brands. By age four she already knew what a film set was. But the real break came when her family decided to move across the country from Kansas City to Los Angeles.
It was a leap of faith that paid off.
In 2016 he landed the role of Emme Burns in the series Man with a Plan. He shared the screen with Matt LeBlanc for four seasons and seventy-nine episodes. That experience gave him the stage time he needed to understand the rhythm of TV comedy.
On the set of the series, Finley didn't just recite lines. She watched how the cameras and editing worked. For her, acting was never child's play but a profession with schedules and clear hierarchies.
Her change of pace came in 2018 with Back Roads. Alex Pettyfer chose her for a dark drama that had nothing to do with the canned laughter of commercial television. She played a girl trapped in a suffocating, violent home environment.
Critics noticed her ability to convey silence. Her performance in this independent film proved that Finley could carry long takes without relying on supporting dialogue.
Then came the action movies.
In 2020 she took part in We Can Be Heroes under the direction of Robert Rodriguez. The movie was a massive hit on digital platforms and put her on the radar of younger global audiences. But she was looking for projects with more dramatic weight outside the superhero mold.
That's why she accepted the role in Paradise Highway in 2022. She worked side by side with Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman in a thriller about human trafficking. Finley played a girl who must survive in the cab of a truck as it crosses several states.
Working with an Oscar winner like Binoche was an accelerated masterclass. Finley spent weeks in cramped spaces and dusty locations to give realism to her character.
In 2024, she joined the cast of Venom: The Last Dance. This foray into the Marvel universe through Sony marked her definitive entry into the big leagues of high-budget productions.
It hasn't all been commercial films.
Also in 2024, she starred in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever alongside Judy Greer and Pete Holmes. The film was shot mainly on location in Manitoba, Canada, under the direction of Dallas Jenkins. The production of this movie had an estimated budget of $10 million.
