Hermione Corfield sold a record to Ethan Hunt at a London record shop during 2015. It was a brief scene in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, but the impact was immediate. That shop clerk with the icy stare and flawless diction was no lucky extra from a mass casting call.

She studied English Literature at University College London before crossing the Atlantic to refine her craft at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. That academic background explains why her career choices tend to steer clear of the easy path of empty commercial cinema. She prefers text over artifice.

She wasn't chasing fame.

In 2016, she appeared in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and shortly after, Guy Ritchie called her for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. She was working with top-tier directors before turning twenty-five. But the real leap in scale came when Lucasfilm came calling to bring her into a galaxy far, far away.

Playing pilot Tallissan Lintra in Star Wars: The Last Jedi during 2017 gave her global visibility that few actors achieve with so little screen time. Her character led the blue squadron, and although her fate was tragic, the franchise's fandom kept her in memory. That role caused her searches on IMDb to skyrocket within less than a week.

The mud and isolation of Kentucky

Corfield chose to step away from the spotlight of big-budget blockbusters to get her hands dirty in independent film. In 2018, she starred in Rust Creek, and the shoot was a constant physical challenge in the forests of Kentucky. She played a student who must survive the wilderness and local drug dealers after getting lost on a back road.

International critics began to praise her ability to carry a film almost on her own. In this survival thriller, there are no dazzling lines or flawless wardrobes. There is only an actress fighting the real cold of a hostile location.

In 2019, she returned to that formula of claustrophobic isolation with Sea Fever. This time the setting was an Irish fishing boat infected by an unknown marine parasite. Her performance as Siobhán, a solitary and unsympathetic scientist, avoided the usual clichés of horror heroines. She brought a technical coolness that raised the level of the production.

And the gamble paid off.

London crimes and rural dramas

Television allowed her to take on more substantial roles starting in 2020 with the series We Hunt Together. Over two seasons, she played Freddy Lane, a manipulative woman with a dark past who gets caught up in a series of murders in the British capital. The show ended in 2022 after exploring the limits of morality and trauma.

Her most solid acting recognition, however, came with The Road Dance in 2021. It is a period drama set in the Hebrides islands during World War I. Her role as Kirsty Macleod earned her the audience award at the Edinburgh Festival and confirmed that her talent fit perfectly within the author-driven historical drama.

Corfield is a runner who picks her roles wisely.

Since 2024, her interests have shifted toward more intimate, personal projects where the script carries more weight than the budget. She still lives in London and keeps a careful distance from the Hollywood celebrity scene. She prefers shoots where the weather is a character in its own right and the physical effort is real.

In 2014, she made her debut with a small part in the anthology film 50 Kisses, directed by Sebastian Solberg. She earned a minimum fee for that first professional job in front of the cameras.
