Millie Brady

Millie Brady was born in Berkshire in 1993. Her first contact with the industry didn't come in front of a film camera but on the runways of London. She worked as a model for brands like Miu Miu because she needed a way in, but she knew her place was in fiction.

In 2014, she landed her first major role in the series Mr Selfridge. She played Violette Selfridge for a full season. It was a trial by fire in a period production with a considerable budget that demanded technical precision.

Luck is a decisive factor.

In 2016, she took part in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, playing Mary Bennet. The film didn't perform at the box office, but it helped her get noticed by casting directors in Los Angeles. So shortly after, Guy Ritchie called her in for a brief role in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword in 2017.

The Crown of Wessex

The role that changed her career was Aethelflaed in The Last Kingdom. She joined in the second season in 2017 and stayed until the end of the series in 2022. Her character went from a frightened girl to a military strategist who led armies on screen.

Filming in Hungary for months under the Central European cold toughened her craft. She learned to ride horseback and handle swords, while the script demanded a constant dramatic intensity from her. And audiences responded.

During those years of intense filming, she also made room for smaller projects. In 2020, she appeared in The Queen’s Gambit. She played Cleo, a French model who shared nights of drinking with the lead character in a Paris hotel.

Horror and Laboratories

In 2022, she starred in Surface for Apple TV+. Here she traded swords for psychological suspense in a plot set in San Francisco. Critics praised her ability to sustain the mystery without resorting to exaggerated gestures.

It was a risky decision.

In 2023, she made her move into genre film with Double Blind. It's an experimental horror movie in which she plays a young woman who takes part in a pharmaceutical clinical trial that goes horribly wrong. The shoot took place in closed locations in Ireland to heighten the sense of absolute claustrophobia for the viewer.

In 2024, she joined the cast of Joy. It is a Netflix film about the birth of in vitro fertilization, in which she shares scenes with Bill Nighy and James Norton. The production focused on the technical details of the 1970s and the laboratory in Oldham.

The film's international distribution deal was closed for eighteen million dollars following its screening at the London Film Festival.
