Kingsley Ben-Adir was born in 1986 in the Gospel Oak neighborhood, north London. He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and finished his studies in 2011. He skipped the fast track of commercial auditions, preferring to hone his craft in classical theater during his first years in the business.

She worked on productions at the Old Vic and the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. In 2011, she took part in the play The Realness and soon made the jump to television with a recurring role in the crime series Vera. There, she played Dr. Marcus Sumner over several seasons.

To star in Bob Marley: One Love in 2024, the actor had to undergo extreme immersion in language and music. He lost more than 10 kilos of weight to match the singer's physique in his later years. He learned to play guitar from scratch and studied Jamaican Patois with local specialists in Kingston.

During the shoot in Jamaica, Marley's family supervised every detail of his performance. Ben-Adir insisted on recording the concert scenes with his own voice, even though it was later blended with original recordings in post-production. He was after the physical truth of the effort on stage.

The project marked her breakthrough as a leading man in the American market.

In 2023, he also explored the world of superhero franchises with the series Secret Invasion. He played Gravik, a villain with complex political motivations who departed from the genre's usual stereotypes. Filming took place mainly at Pinewood Studios in London.
