Raegan Revord

Raegan Revord didn't need years of training at the Actors Studio to convince casting directors in Los Angeles. By age six, she was already filming commercials and appearing in guest roles on top-tier television series. In 2014, she appeared in Modern Family as Megan, and that brief appearance helped the industry take note of her name as a rising talent.

And audiences connected with her right away.

In 2017, she landed the role that would define her childhood and teenage years. Playing Missy Cooper in Young Sheldon posed a considerable technical challenge, since she had to be the down-to-earth, sharp-tongued counterpart to an insufferable genius, alongside far more experienced actors. Over seven seasons, she held her own without missing a beat and made her character gain a narrative weight that was not planned in the early drafts.

Sarcasm as a Survival Weapon

Her chemistry with Montana Jordan turned out to be the show's secondary engine. But Revord chose to use the downtime between takes for more than resting or scrolling on her phone. In 2024, she announced the publication of her first novel titled My Story as a Help (a work of historical fiction), which places her in a creative space very different from that of other young stars of her generation.

So her move into writing was no publicity stunt.

Her life away from the CBS sets is far removed from the usual Hollywood media noise. She actively works with animal shelters and runs a book club with thousands of followers on social media. In 2017, she took part in the horror film Wish Upon to try out roles far from family comedy, and the result was a dry, functional performance.

Writing and Rescues Behind the Scenes

The end of the series that made her famous did not slow down her professional schedule. In 2024 her participation in the spin-off Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage was confirmed, reprising her role as Missy Cooper. TV production contracts in the United States tend to be one-sided, but she has managed her on-screen presence so as not to oversaturate her image.

It was a necessary change of style.

Many child actors fall off the radar once their long-term contracts end. Revord has preferred to diversify her interests between animal rights activism and her career as a novelist. Filming of the last season of Young Sheldon ended with an average of nine million viewers per episode during its original broadcast.
