Rosabell Laurenti Sellers was born in Santa Monica in 1996, but her identity as an actress was forged far from the California sun. She made her debut at just eight years old at La Mama Theatre in New York, playing one of Medea's children. That stage experience shaped her relationship with drama before the Italian industry claimed her for her first television productions.
She crossed the pond at a young age.
In 2009, she appeared in the film Ex directed by Fausto Brizzi. That shoot taught her how commercial comedies work while she continued training at high-performance European schools. But her real international breakthrough didn't come from an auteur's script; it came from one of the biggest television machines of the decade.
In 2010, she worked alongside Rachel Weisz in The Whistleblower. The film dealt with sex trafficking in post-war Bosnia, and Sellers took on a role of notable psychological intensity for her age. That performance earned her a nomination for the David di Donatello Awards for Best Supporting Actress.
In 2015, she joined the cast of Game of Thrones to bring Tyene Sand to life. Her arrival in the fifth season of the HBO series changed her work pace and media profile. Filming on location in Seville and Osuna put her at the center of conversations among millions of viewers around the world.
The shoot was a school of physical endurance.
She played the youngest of the Sand Snakes for three consecutive seasons. Yet her storyline was met with mixed reactions from fans of George R.R. Martin's novels. Despite criticism of the script's development in Dorne, she brought a magnetic presence that opened the door to the English-speaking market.
And the gamble paid off.
During the years she spent on the series, Sellers never stopped working in European cinema. In 2012, she starred in Gli equilibristi, and in 2013, she appeared in Buongiorno papà. These films show a much more restrained, naturalistic side than the big special effects spectacles of American television.
In 2020, she took the lead role in the series Spides, playing Nora. The production was shot entirely in Berlin and ventured into alien thriller territory with a dark tone. The project let her move away from her fantasy warrior image and explore characters with a darker, more contemporary emotional weight.
In 2022, she joined the cast of the series Willow for Disney+. Here, she played Scorpia, balancing classic adventure with the modernization of a franchise from the 1980s. Still, her interest in large-scale projects didn't stop her from returning to productions with a strong technical and scientific component.
In 2023, the European blockbuster The Swarm premiered with Sellers playing data analyst Alicia Delaware. The series adapts Frank Schätzing's novel about a biological threat rising from the oceans. Filming took place mainly in Italy, on a budget of 40 million euros.
Sellers balances her on-screen work with her role at Young Actors for Humanitarian Help. In 2015, she founded this group to get young performers involved in social and environmental causes. Post-production on The Swarm wrapped at studios in Rome under the supervision of Frank Doelger.
