Where there's a dream, there's a way

In Cameroon, a six-year-old boy and his older sister crouch in wait next to an airstrip. Their goal is to sneak into the cargo hold of a plane that will take them to Europe. Far from there, an environmental activist comes across the image of a dead elephant whose tusks have been torn off. His job is to fight poaching, but he will also have to face personal problems with his daughter, who has just arrived from Spain. Salvador Calvo directs this drama made up of three intertwined stories, and Luis Tosar, Álvaro Cervantes, and Moustapha Oumarou headline the cast.

The movie won four Goya Awards, including Best Director for Salvador Calvo and Best New Actor for Adam Nourou, and received thirteen nominations at the 35th Goya Awards.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has an approval rating of 83% based on 6 reviews, with an average score of 7.3 out of 10.

Moustapha Oumarou was found in Benin after the casting director spotted him on the street; he wasn't attending school and landed the role after searching for a month and a half at schools.

To prepare Moustapha Oumarou, who couldn't read, a coach explained the script to him like a story; they also had to teach him what an elephant was, since elephants didn't exist in his area.

Filming in Benin was suspended during a scene in some caves because a storm let water into the interior and forced the cancellation of the scene in which the boy teaches the older one to swim.

Benin hosted an international production for the first time with the shoot of Adú, which also used locations in Murcia, Melilla, Madrid, and Morocco.

Adú grossed more than six million euros and became the second-highest-grossing Spanish movie of 2020.
