Synopsis of Bank Under Siege

Barcelona, May 1981. Three months after the 23-F coup attempt, eleven robbers take over the city's Central Bank and hold about 200 hostages. Their demands are specific: they want the release of coup leader General Antonio Tejero and three of his collaborators. The authorities must negotiate as the situation grows tense inside and outside the building. Miguel Herrán, María Pedraza, Hovik Keuchkerian and Isak Ferriz lead the cast of this Netflix miniseries, written by Patxi Amezcua and directed by Daniel Calparsoro. Produced by Brutal Media, the story is based on a real heist that the fiction reconstructs.

Trivia about Bank Under Siege

In October 2023, Netflix announced the start of filming for the miniseries, which it hoped would repeat the success of Money Heist.

Several scenes were filmed in the Madrid district of Chamberí between October 9 and 11, 2023, while the main shoot had begun in Barcelona.

The cinematography is by Tommie Ferreras and the soundtrack by Carlos Jean, a frequent collaborator of Calparsoro.

Óscar Rabadán plays President Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo in the series, a recurring role across the episodes.

The website HobbyConsolas gave the series 72 points, a rating the outlet describes as "good."

Although the story takes place almost entirely in Barcelona, the series was mainly filmed in Madrid and other provinces, according to the series' IMDb profile.

Miguel Herrán explained that the series isn't meant to be another "Money Heist," because the focus is on the historical period and not only on the heist.
