Synopsis of Pinocchio

In South Korea, in the year 2000, the family of Ki Ha-myung falls apart when his father, a fire brigade captain, dies in a factory explosion while trying to rescue his men. The media blames him and makes him a scapegoat to boost ratings. Years later, Ha-myung lives under the name Choi Dal-po, after being rescued from the sea by an elderly man who adopts him. In-ha, the old man's granddaughter, suffers from Pinocchio syndrome: every lie triggers a fit of hiccups. She dreams of becoming a reporter, but her inability to lie closes that door. Dal-po decides to join her so that they can both become honest journalists and expose the injustices of the past. Created by Park Hye-ryun and directed by Jo Soo-won, it airs on SBS and stars Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye.
