Synopsis of The Lady's Companion

Elena Bianda is a chaperone hired on a trial basis by Don Pedro Mencía to watch over his three unmarried daughters: Cristina, Sara, and Carlota. The story unfolds in Madrid, in an unspecified era with a Galdós-like feel, where every outing and every visit is governed by strict social rules. Elena must earn the family's trust while the sisters search for husbands, and she tries to carry out her duties without losing control of the household. Romantic entanglements and scandals complicate her assignment, and Elena will have to decide how far she is willing to go along with the rules. The series stars Nadia de Santiago and Álvaro Mel and was created by Gema R. Neira and María José Rustarazo for Netflix.

Trivia about The Lady's Companion

In English, the series is titled The Lady's Companion, although its original title literally means «The Lady's Companion».

In May 2025, Netflix announced the cancellation of the series after just one season, even though a second season had initially been in development.

HobbyConsolas gave it 70 points, calling it «good», and highlighted the lighthearted tone of the storytelling, the charm of the lead character, and the effort put into the production design.

Pere Solà Gimferrer of La Vanguardia lamented that everything felt forced and that Nadia de Santiago broke the fourth wall to tell viewers what they were already seeing.

The series spent four weeks in Netflix's global Top 10 weekly chart, with 63 million hours viewed and 11.2 million cumulative views.

Filming began on January 26, 2024, at Netflix's production center in Tres Cantos, for a project initially planned for multiple seasons.

The relationship between Esther and Josefina drew a strong response from audiences and was compared to the phenomenon of the couple formed by Luisita and Amelia, known as #Luimelia.
