Klaus and Hayley must pretend their daughter has died while they try to take back the French Quarter of New Orleans, which they lost because of Francesca and her alliance with the witches. The wolves remain under Esther's orders; she has possessed Cassie's body and wants to purify her children so they can start over as a family. Marcel, meanwhile, is trying to build an army of vampires to take over the city.
