Alice Kremelberg was born in Long Island in 1990, and by the time she turned eighteen she had already worked on the sets of Guiding Light and 30 Rock. She didn't chase the quick fame of child stars on major networks. Instead, she chose the path of the invisible supporting actor, one that builds credibility through brief appearances in New York procedurals.
In 2018, she played Bernice Li in season six of Orange Is the New Black. But her real breakthrough in terms of visibility came in 2021 with the fourth installment of The Sinner. Producers were looking for someone who could carry the weight of a disappearance without being present in most of the shots.
Kremelberg gave the character Percy Muldoon a physical fragility that contrasted with the harshness of Maine's fishing landscape. Her performance relied on silence and a gaze that always seemed on the verge of collapse. As a result, critics stopped seeing her as a familiar face and began treating her as a method actress capable of carrying an entire narrative.
And the gamble paid off.
Her big-budget film debut came in 2020 under the direction of Aaron Sorkin. In The Trial of the Chicago 7, she played Bernardine Dohrn. It was a brief but essential role for understanding the political dynamics of the film.
There was no turning back.
In 2024, she joined the cast of The Penguin, the HBO Max series that expands the Batman universe. There she played Abby, in a far darker and more violent atmosphere than her previous work. That same year she also appeared in Renegade Nell for Disney+, a production that demanded a physical and period-specific performance completely different from anything else she had done.
But her training was no accident. She studied at the Atlantic Theater Company and Fordham University, where she honed a style that avoids histrionics. Kremelberg prefers restraint to shouting.
Her interest in the industry goes beyond standing in front of the camera. In 2019, she co-wrote and produced the short film Iris. This side of her career reflects a need to control the pace of her own career, which is unusual for profiles still on the rise.
In 2020, she joined the anthology series Monsterland. There she shot the episode titled Iron River, MI, where she once again explored psychological drama with supernatural undertones.
The New York industry considers her one of the most reliable players on the current circuit.
Filming of her final scenes for the Gotham saga wrapped at Silvercup Studios in New York. Her contract for 2025 includes two independent projects that are currently in technical post-production. Alice Kremelberg maintains her residence in Brooklyn and remains active in the experimental theater scene of Off-Broadway.
