Alicia Falcó didn't start out chasing the spotlight of the movie screen. In 2017, she was on the stage of the Teatro Victoria in Barcelona, playing Debbie in the musical Billy Elliot. That discipline in dance and voice shaped her approach to the craft before she turned fifteen.
Her first TV roles were modest but steady. In 2016, she made a brief appearance on Remember When, and shortly afterward appeared in the series Giants, directed by Enrique Urbizu. They were small roles that gave her a chance to learn how a professional film set worked.
The camera never lies.
In 2023, the project came along that moved her name from the supporting cast lists to the main credits. Silvia Munt chose her to star in Las buenas compañías. She played Bea, a young woman caught up in the fight for abortion rights in the Basque Country in the late 1970s.
It was a job of absolute restraint. Falcó avoided dramatic gestures to focus on a gaze that conveyed the anger and confusion of a turbulent era. Her performance earned unanimous praise from critics at the Málaga Film Festival.
Many actors of her generation chase quick impact on social media. But Falcó chose a cinema of long silences, demanding more maturity than her age might suggest.
That year 2024 brought a change of pace to her filming schedule. She took part in Mano de hierro, a streaming production focused on drug trafficking in the port of Barcelona. There she shared scenes with actors such as Eduard Fernández and Chino Darín.
And the risk paid off handsomely.
During that same period, she starred in Operación Barrio Inglés. It is a espionage drama set in Huelva during World War II, where she plays Lucía Valbuena. Filming stretched over several months on locations in Riotinto and Jerez de la Frontera.
Before filming, she studies the historical context of her characters to avoid anachronisms in gesture or speech. She doesn't use classic-school tricks. She prefers to work from a naturalness that can be uncomfortable at times, because it departs from the usual TV standard of perfect faces and overly polished emotions.
Her training at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona remains the foundation of her choices. Despite offers for purely commercial projects, she keeps her focus on scripts with political or human weight. She knows that longevity in this industry depends on the ability to say no to certain projects.
Because success isn't measured by follower count; it's about being able to choose your next script. In 2024, her outdoor scenes in Huelva were filmed in temperatures exceeding 40 degrees for three consecutive weeks, with split shifts.
