Haruka Shiraishi debuted in 2011 with a small role in the anime Kakko Kawaii Saku. She was sixteen and had prior training with the Gekidan Himawari theater group, which shaped how she understood the script. Before stepping into a voice-over studio, she already knew the weight of the body on stage.
Theater was her school.
But the real leap came when she understood that voice acting requires a different kind of physical control. In 2015, she took part in Himouto! Umaru-chan, bringing Kirie Motoba to life. It was a job of rhythmic precision. The Japanese industry began to notice that Shiraishi didn't just read lines but built characters out of silence.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2017, she worked on Tsuki ga Kirei playing Aoi Mizuno. It was a production where naturalism took priority over the genre's usual exaggeration. Shiraishi adjusted her delivery to a flatter, more human tone to fit a realistic story.
The real test by fire came in 2018 with Golden Kamuy. Playing Asirpa demanded much more than good intonation. She had to study phonetics and expressions from Ainu culture so the dialogue wouldn't sound forced. She spent hours rehearsing words that aren't part of standard Japanese to give credibility to a hunter in the mountains of Hokkaido.
That role permanently changed her professional standing. She didn't just lend her voice to a girl; she carried the cultural weight of an entire ethnic group into fiction. She got audiences to empathize with an almost forgotten language through the nuance of her vocal performance.
In 2019, she diversified her schedule with We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, playing Fumino Furuhashi. She went from the harshness of survival in northern Japan to a school romantic comedy without missing a beat. Her name began appearing on the most competitive casting lists in Tokyo.
She wasn't chasing fame.
Throughout 2020 and 2021, she kept a steady work rhythm in series such as The Misfit of Demon King Academy. In 2022, she took on the role of Ludmila Halua in Skeleton Knight in Another World. Each project was a measured step to avoid being typecast as childlike or overly sweet characters.
In 2023, she joined the cast of High Card as Wendy Sato. This project allowed her to explore a more mature tone and pure action. But Shiraishi always returns to the root of the text. Before recording each session, she analyzes the director's intentions so she doesn't rely solely on intuition.
In 2024, she took part in The Elusive Samurai, playing Shizuku Hinakura. It was a CloverWorks production where the technical demands of lip-syncing were extreme because of the fluidity of the animation. Her ability to keep her breathing controlled during high-tension scenes was key to the final result.
That same year, she worked on the second season of High Card and on Solo Leveling. Her schedule for 2024 was filled by signing contracts for three big-budget productions slated for the 2025 calendar. Shiraishi charges a standard fee per recording session, according to the Japan Voice Actors Union rates.
