Hazal Türesan wasn't chasing quick fame when she decided to enroll in the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University. She studied theater with the discipline of someone who knows technique is the only real support when the spotlights go out. Her professional debut came in 2008 with the series Unutma Beni. That initial experience taught her the frenetic pace of Turkish productions, where the script is often written almost at the same time as filming.

In 2014, the industry took notice of her thanks to Kara Para Aşk. She played Aslı Denizer, a character with notable psychological instability. It was a personally difficult shoot, because it coincided with the death of her father from lung cancer. Türesan, however, chose to throw herself into work to cope with her grief. That role brought her international visibility that until then she had only glimpsed during theater rehearsals.

And then everything changed scale.

Building Morally Gray Characters

Unlike other actresses of her generation, she didn't accept conventional romantic heroine roles. In 2017, she joined the cast of Fazilet Hanım ve Kızları to bring Yasemin Egemen to life. She was a nuanced antagonist who avoided the cliché of the flat villain. Her ability to sustain tension on screen without big gestures caught the attention of the streaming platforms that were beginning to arrive in Turkey.

In 2018, she took part in Yaşamayanlar. It was the first vampire series produced in her country, and it aired on the BluTV platform (later reaching Netflix). Playing Mari marked an aesthetic and narrative shift in her career, because the fantasy genre let her explore physical registers that broadcast television tends to avoid for fear of losing audiences.

Turkish television isn't always kind to those who take risks.

But in 2019, she landed Mucize Doktor. Her role as Beliz Boysal, the hospital's owner and administrator, kept her on screen until 2021. It was a massive hit that was exported to dozens of countries across Europe and Latin America. In this production, she played a character who had to balance the coldness of business management with deep empathy toward the lead. The show went on to run for more than 60 episodes, maintaining a leading audience share in its time slot.

The leap into new formats

Before filming each scene, she analyzes the subtext of her lines with almost academic meticulousness. In 2021, she worked on the series Yalancı and also on the comedy Vahşi Şeyler. The latter was distributed in short episodes of barely twenty minutes. It was a narrative experiment that showed Türesan feels at home in concise storytelling and dry humor. As a result, her name began to recur in productions that prioritized quality over running time.

In 2023, she joined the cast of Magarsus for the BluTV platform. The series focuses on the power struggles of a family that controls the citrus trade in the Çukurova region. It's a dense, dark drama that stays far from the lights of Istanbul. That same year, she began filming Kızıl Goncalar, where she plays Beste Özdemir Alkanlı. The plot explores the tensions between secular and conservative sectors of contemporary Turkish society.

Technical rigor is her trademark.

Türesan maintains a close relationship with theater and often returns to the stage whenever her television contracts allow. She rarely grants personal interviews and prefers that discussion of her work be limited to what happens within the frame. In 2024, the series Kızıl Goncalar was renewed for a second season after reaching ratings above eight points in the Turkish measurement system.
