Jessica DiCicco was born in Los Angeles, but her DNA belongs entirely to the New York arts scene. Her father is actor Bobby DiCicco. She grew up surrounded by scripts and videotapes, in a home where acting was not a dream but an everyday family trade.
Francis Ford Coppola noticed her for a small role in The Godfather Part III in 1990. She was ten years old. But the camera never fully won her over, because she preferred the anonymity of the recording booth.
Her voice was her real tool.
In 1993, she appeared in the series Marlowe and began to realize her voice had an unusual range. She wasn't looking to be the star of the show. She wanted to be the soul of the cartoons she watched on Saturday mornings.
In 2005, she signed her first major contract with Disney to star in The Buzz on Maggie. The industry then realized Jessica had a raspy vocal quality that was rare among young actresses. It was not the typical sweet, flat voice of children's productions of the time.
And the gamble paid off.
By 2012, she was already a regular fixture in Cartoon Network's studios. Her role in Adventure Time as Flame Princess changed how fans of the genre saw her. The character called for going from total calm to volcanic fury in just three seconds of screen time.
But her biggest technical challenge came in 2016 with the premiere of The Loud House. In this Nickelodeon production, she plays two sisters with opposite personalities. Lynn is an aggressive, loud athlete, while Lucy is a goth girl who speaks in flat whispers.
It's a matter of pure technique.
She records the lines for both characters in the same session. By 2020, the series had become one of the network's pillars, and Jessica kept control of both voices without relying on heavy digital filters. Her ability to alternate low and high frequencies is a case study in California voice acting schools.
In 2021, she joined the cast of The Legend of Vox Machina for Amazon Prime Video. The tone shifted here toward adult fantasy and explicit violence. Jessica proved that her voice could grow up alongside its audience without losing the energy that made her stand out at Disney two decades earlier.
Unlike other voice actors, she doesn't regularly attend massive conventions. She prefers to focus on voice directing and on training new talent entering the Los Angeles industry.
By 2024, her registered acting credits exceeded 150 different celebrities across film, television and video games. The syndication contract for her main series guarantees that her work will air in 25 languages through 2030.
