Jonathan Sadowski arrived in Los Angeles with the momentum of someone who studied theater in Chicago and isn't afraid of filler auditions. In 2006 he landed the role of Paul Antonio in She’s the Man. That teen comedy worked as a showcase for his visibility in the industry because it played on a supporting yet magnetic charisma.
In 2007 he worked with Bruce Willis in Live Free or Die Hard, playing Trey. It was a major jump in technical scale for an actor who, just a year earlier, was filming scenes in high school hallways. But action cinema was not his only stop during that decade of learning.
In 2009 he took part in the reboot of Friday the 13th, playing Wade.
This foray into the slasher genre let him explore a different register before he made the definitive leap to national television. Sadowski soon understood that in Hollywood, survival depends on not getting stuck in a single type of production. So he accepted the challenge of live-audience sitcoms.
The series $#*! My Dad Says marked his first major steady contract in 2010. He worked side by side with William Shatner across eighteen episodes. Critics were harsh on the show, but the actor used the time to sharpen his comedic timing in front of the cameras at CBS.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2014 he signed on to play Josh Kaminski in Young & Hungry. This Freeform production stayed on the air until 2018 and gave him a financial stability that few actors of his generation manage to sustain over five consecutive seasons. He shot a total of 71 episodes, playing a young tech entrepreneur from San Francisco.
During those years of intense filming he barely had time for outside projects. But by 2012 he had already made a mark in genre cinema with Chernobyl Diaries. That film, shot on locations in Eastern Europe, pursued a gritty realism that contrasted with the polish of his television work.
Few people know that Sadowski is an active member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood. Magic is not a minor hobby for him but a discipline he applies to his control of the stage and his body. This skill gives him a technical precision that cinematographers often appreciate on low-budget shoots.
Television was her refuge.
In 2018 he appeared in the series Lethal Weapon, playing Andrew across several episodes. It was a one-off return to the police tone he had already explored early in his career. But his interest began shifting toward producing and creating his own content outside the reach of the major studios.
In 2021 he joined the cast of The Devil Below, a horror film directed by Bradley Parker. The shoot focused on an expedition to an abandoned mining town in the Appalachians. The film had an estimated budget of $5 million and was released mainly on digital platforms.
