Synopsis of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Los Angeles, 1999. Sarah Connor and her son John have spent years on the run. After destroying a killer machine and the creator of Skynet, they believe the future in which John must lead the human resistance is behind them. However, the Terminators return to the present, and the pair once again risks their lives. Sarah lives on edge, watching every shadow, while John, a teenager trying to lead a normal life at school, still doesn't feel like the hero everyone expects. Mother and son must protect themselves from an enemy they already know and another they don't yet understand, with the unexpected help of one of those machines. Created by Josh Friedman and starring Lena Headey and Thomas Dekker, the series airs on Fox.

Trivia about Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

The series was originally titled The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The word "The Terminator" was added later to capitalize on the name's recognition among general audiences.

Summer Glau had not seen the Terminator movies before being cast as Cameron, a new character in the franchise whose name pays tribute to James Cameron.

Shirley Manson, lead singer of the band Garbage, joined the second season as Catherine Weaver, and that role marked her acting debut.

James Cameron, creator of the franchise and director and writer of the first two movies, had no involvement in the series.

Fox ordered thirteen episodes for the first season, but the Writers Guild of America strike cut the order down to nine.

The U.S. premiere drew 18.3 million viewers and became the highest-rated new scripted series of the 2007-2008 TV season.

Summer Glau won the Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television in 2007, tied with Elizabeth Mitchell from "Lost."

FOX canceled the series on May 18, 2009 and did not order a third season, a decision attributed to declining ratings and production costs.
