Lola Glaudini was born in Manhattan, surrounded by scripts and experimental theater stages. Her father, Robert Glaudini, was a writer, and she watched the craft up close. In 1996, she landed her first recurring role on NYPD Blue, playing Dolores Mayo.
That start set the pattern of her playing women with an iron shell. But mainstream fame would not come through conventional police drama.
In 2001, she entered the HBO universe in a role that demanded absolute coolness. She played FBI agent Deborah Ciccerone in The Sopranos. Her mission was to infiltrate Tony Soprano's inner circle through her friendship with Adriana La Cerva.
She used the alias Danielle Ciccolella to win the trust of a woman desperate to fit in. The contrast between her deep voice and her analytical gaze worked immediately. Glaudini knew that in that series, silences weighed more than screams.
The tension of her storyline ended abruptly when her cover was blown by Christopher Moltisanti. But her time in production made it clear she could hold her own against the industry's heavyweights.
Then came the chance to work in broadcast television.
In 2005, she accepted the role of Special Agent Elle Greenway on Criminal Minds. The CBS series sought a dark, analytical tone that suited her acting profile. But life in Los Angeles never quite won her over.
Midway through the second season, she asked for her character's exit to be written in. She wanted to go back home to New York and step away from the endless shoot days of network television. Many in the industry didn't understand why she would walk away from a massively popular hit for the sake of her personal well-being.
The decision was final.
After leaving crime fiction, she turned to smaller projects and guest appearances. In 2011, she appeared in the film Jack Goes Boating under the direction of Philip Seymour Hoffman. It was a return to her New York roots and to film with a more reflective feel (and far from the big studios).
In 2018, she joined the cast of Ray Donovan to play Anita Novak across ten episodes. Her ability to move through environments of political corruption let her recapture the intensity that made her famous years earlier. But she didn't stop at crime drama.
She took on challenges in different genres, from science fiction in The Expanse to action in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. In 2022, she joined the miniseries The Offer, which chronicles the chaotic shoot of The Godfather. There, she played Candida Donadio with a restraint that recalled her best years in theater.
In 2024, she shot the film The Comic Shop under the direction of her father, Robert Glaudini. The script explores family dynamics in a suffocating, nostalgia-laden setting. For years she has lived in Brooklyn with her husband, Stuart England, and their two children.
Her salary per episode during the peak of her cable television fame was around $150,000.
