Olivia Sanabia was eight years old when she decided advertising was her way into the industry. In 2011, she began landing national TV commercials in the United States and soon realized that on-camera charisma can be trained. It isn't a divine gift but a matter of repetition and endurance.
The children's entertainment industry often grinds up premature talent. But she managed to balance auditions and school desks. In 2015 she received the script for a series blending magical realism and home cooking.
In 2016, Amazon Prime premiered Just Add Magic with Sanabia in the leading role as Kelly Quinn. Production ran until 2019 and built up more than fifty episodes shot under constant pressure from weekly deadlines.
And the project worked.
The series was not only a ratings hit in the family niche but also allowed the Californian actress to prove she could carry the narrative weight of a long-running drama. During those years of intense filming, she learned to read the timing of comedy and light drama without losing her naturalness.
Many young actors try to break into commercial synth-pop as soon as they get a media spotlight. Sanabia preferred piano and songwriting. In 2019, she released her first single, Stars Crossed, making it clear that her style aimed for a depth different from the usual noise of radio hits.
She plays guitar and piano with such skill that she has been able to avoid backing tracks in her live shows. For her, music isn't an add-on to her personal brand but an expressive need that runs alongside acting.
In 2020, she released The Train and, shortly after, Everlasting. These songs work like personal diaries of a teenager who grew up under the studio lights in Burbank. Music critics praised her ability to write lyrics that steer clear of the clichés of Californian teen life.
Silence is also a creative tool.
After wrapping her time at Amazon, she joined Disney Channel for the series Coop & Cami Ask the World in 2018. There she played Charlotte Wrather for two full seasons. It was an exercise in technical discipline in which she had to adapt to the frantic pace of multi-camera shoots and a live audience.
Her transition to adult roles began with risky choices outside the major studios. In 2021, she took part in the horror film The Secret of Sinchanee, aiming to break free from the perfect-girl image that family viewing had imposed on her. It was a tough shoot in cold locations that demanded an exhausting physical performance.
In 2022, she starred in A Cowgirl’s Song, where she could bring together her two passions by playing a young country singer. The film allowed her to work alongside Cheryl Ladd and show that her voice fit perfectly within the standards of the Nashville sound.
Consistency is her greatest asset.
Unlike other figures of her generation, Sanabia has kept a public profile focused exclusively on her technical skills. She doesn't chase easy headlines or social media controversy to gain relevance. Her strategy is to choose projects that let her age with dignity on screen without burning through stages artificially.
In 2024, she focused her efforts on developing new songs and on pre-production for low-budget independent films. Her childhood training in musical theater gives her a solid foundation for taking on stage roles in Los Angeles when her filming schedule allows. The distribution deal for her latest film for digital platforms was closed in the last quarter of 2023, with viewing numbers that secure her place in the streaming industry.
