The parents of Sarah Strange created the longest-running series in Canadian television. Marc Strange and Susan Wright were the minds behind The Beachcombers, which turned the sets into their daughter's playground. Sarah never had to decide whether she wanted to be an actress, because the craft was already part of the family living room.
In 1993 she landed the role of Jill in the drama series Madison. She was nineteen years old, and the project lasted four seasons. It was her first real contact with the professional industry outside her parents' shadow.
And the pace of work never let up.
In 1994 she began voicing Dot Matrix in ReBoot. It was a technical milestone as the first series of animation generated entirely by computer. Strange kept this voice work until 2001 while juggling on-camera roles in other Vancouver productions.
Her face became familiar to Canadian viewers thanks to Da Vinci's Inquest. She played Helen in ninety-one episodes between 1998 and 2005. The series did very well in international markets and allowed her to move on to American productions shooting in Canada to save on costs.
In 2006 she joined the cast of Men in Trees. She played Theresa Thompsen in thirty-six episodes filmed for ABC. The series was canceled in 2008, but it helped her build connections with Los Angeles producers.
She was a premium supporting actress who always delivered.
Over the following decade, she worked steadily in made-for-TV movies. In 2013 she joined the Garage Sale Mysteries franchise as Dani. She appeared in fifteen feature films of this mystery series until production halted in 2019.
The Hallmark Channel canceled every project linked to Lori Loughlin after the college admissions bribery scandal in the United States. That abrupt firing cost Strange one of the most stable jobs of her decade.
But the digital streaming market opened new doors.
In 2021 she appeared in the series Cruel Summer, playing a high school vice principal in a teen suspense storyline. Two years later, in 2023, she appeared in the sixth episode of the first season of The Last of Us for HBO. She played one of the residents of the Jackson fortified settlement.
During 2024 she remained in the series Family Law, where she plays Judge Nina Harrison. The production of this legal drama completed its third season with a technical overhaul to ensure global distribution. Strange closed that filming cycle with more than one hundred official credits on her professional profile in the audiovisual industry.
